ABOUT
THE KOKOROIKI PROJECT

The idea of the Kokoroiki Project was born from the Japanese traditional dancer, Naume Hanayagi. Its goal is to spread knowledge about the world of artisans who support Japanese culture. 

The project was launched by 3 women who passionately wanted to learn more about Japanese traditional culture, and pass it on to the next generation and the world, 
 

OUR GOAL

  • To hold workshops taught by artisans who continue to succeed Japanese traditional culture, and help provide opportunities to learn about Japanese artisans

  • Educate people who can talk about Japanese culture to the world 

(via English education, early childhood education, presentation skills)

Kanehisa Osawa

Wig artisan (Tokoyama)

Kanehisa Osawa entered the world of wig making under his master and father, Minematsu, at the Kabukiza Theater. He created wigs for Kanzaburo Nakamura, Tomijuro Nakamura, and Tamasaburo Bando. In 1980 he became an independent business owner, which is the current Ohsawa Inc. He also was in charge of the wigs for Jusuke Hanayagi (3rd gen.) , Han Takehara, and Tokuho Azuma (1st gen.) He also created wigs for for Shochiku, Gekidan Shinpa, Toho, Modern Japanese Dance, NHK Taiga TV drama series, and Ichiku Tsujigahana shows.

Starting at young age, Mieko Kageyama started learning make up technique under her grandfather and artisan Takashi Yuasa (Yukimatsu Ohya). She currently works with her husband Atsushi in traditional Japanese dance.

Atsushi Kageyama

Make Up Artisan (Kaoshi)

Atsushi Kageyama was trained under Yoshimitsu Yuasa. He participated in many traditional dance performances such as the Hanayagi method “Kotobukikai”. He provided his makeup technique for the book, “Make Up for Kabuki” and is committed to spreading cultural knowledge

Kazuo Masuda

Sceneshifter(ohdougu-kata)

Born in Asakusa, Tokyo in 1952. In 1968, he entered the world of sceneshifter under his grandfather Jiro Masuda. In 1971, when he entered Nihon University College of Art, he was taught by Mr. Kamematsu Matsumoto, Mr. Kiyotada Torii (the eighth owner) , Shizuo Toyama. After graduating from university, he became a disciple of his grandfather Jiro Masuda, who has continued for three generations. Currently, he is involved in performing arts and set design for other stages and events, focusing on classical dances and new dances of each Japanese dance school.

Chitose Junya

Actress

Chitose Junya joined the Takarazuka Revue Company in 2003. She started off playing the male roles but in 2005, switched to playing the female roles. She played the heroine in “Yarazu-no-ame” and “Gyakuten Saiban 2”. She is known for her depth in acting and stable vocals, and her performance in “Elizabeth” and “Ten-wa-akai-hotori” received acclaim.
She also performed in Oceans 11 playing Queen Diana and left the company for that role. In 2020 she performed in Sakurahime, at Kyoto Minamiza Theater.
Chitose is also a Japanese traditional dance teacher of Nishikawa method Japanese traditional dance, with the name Taisei Nishikawa. She is also the PR ambassador for NOSS (Nihon, dance, sports, science), which is a form of exercise that combines the “Japanese “ style movement, and sports science.

Mirei Yamagata

Voice actor/English Coach 

Mirei is a voice actor for NHK Japangle and Benesse’s Shimaro series, and has otherwise performed in many English material, videos, and games. She also supervises, writes, and translates for TV dramas and English programs. Her passion and mission is to a communicate the beauty of foreign culture to Japan, a the beauty of Japanese culture to overseas. She was raised in the US, Germany, and Japan.

Rokon Tosha

Instrumentalist

Born in 1998. From an early age, he received guidance from his grandfather Tosha Roei and his father Tosha Roei. 2007 First stage (taiko drum) at Nagauta Hayashi "Kazahana no Kai".  In 2018, the stage name of Tosha Rokon is allowed. Ichikawa City Cultural Reconstruction Foundation 31st New Performer Competition [Japanese Musical Instrument Category] Received the highest award. After graduating from the Department of Japanese Music, Faculty of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts in 2020, he has been engaged in a wide range of musical activities such as performing Japanese music, collaborating with Western music, and performing overseas.

Naume Hanayagi

日本舞踊家/プロデューサー

1985年故・花柳照奈(勲四等宝冠章、紫綬褒章受章)の内弟子となる。文化庁インターンシップ国内研修制度で朝倉摂の下舞台美術を学ぶ。韓国芸術総合学校舞踊院招聘教授(2007)、東京都立総合芸術高校(2009年~)、都立駒場国際高校(2010年~)、東京芸術大学邦楽科(2013~17年)の非常勤講師を務める。
成田空港デジタルサイネージ初のPV「dance in NARITA」(2012)に出演。
花柳照奈・奈卯女舞踊研究所、卯女の会主宰。

Kunimi Naito

プランナー / 制作ディレクター

アナウンサーとしてブラウン管にデビュー後、情報の伝え手から生み出し手へ転身。組織開発とトレーニングを米国にて学び、帰国後、人材育成プログラム開発およびマニュアル・WEBサイト・動画コンテンツなどの企画・制作に携わる。
人と人、脳と脳をつなぎ、課題解決をサポートし、プロジェクトをゴールに向けて推進させることを得意技とする。
日本舞踊 花柳流 花柳奈卯女に師事。
